Black Lives Matter Art Show Is Going To London
And it has been a while yet again, since I last signed in to this blog to post something about Occupy Wall Street or Black Lives Matter. And in the midst of another one of those climate change, global warming record breaking heatwaves that are taking place seemingly around the world these days, I find myself typing that, in an attempt to take a vacation, Black Lives Matter Art Show, or at least part of it, or at least as much of it that can get on a plane, is going to London. And I am excited to present my first international art show in London at Common House, a collectively managed space for radical groups, projects and community events in East London. Now I don't really have any photos of this Black Lives Matter Art Show Goes To London event to post yet, because I haven't really made it there yet, though that facebook event invite that I created for this event reads something like as follows:
Black Lives Matter | Carla Cubit of Occupy Art
Opening Reception & Performances: Saturday, August 3, 3-6pm at Common House.
A performance by Carla Cubit of Occupy Art and open mic followed by an Artist Talk & Discussion
Free posters will be available from The Stop Mass Incarceration Network
August 3, 2019
Open Hours, Saturday , 12-6pm
Inspired by the Black Lives Matter movement, the Black Lives Matter Art Show features Carla Cubit’s Black Lives Matter artwork and posters, accompanied by her photographs from Black Lives Matter protests throughout the NYC area.
“Expand scope, perspective, and inspiration towards an ongoing series of future culture jams and events around this theme and time.” All are encouraged to come talk about the Black Lives Matter movement and are invited to create their own posters/Black Lives Matter inspired artwork (art materials and supplies provided).
Handmade Black Lives Matter necklaces, magnets, key chains and pins will be on sale for $1 during the Opening Reception and all Open Hours 12-6pm.
